Madara Uchiha ( Japanese : うちは マダラ, Hepburn : Uchiha Madara ) is a main antagonist manga and anime character in the Naruto series created by Masashi Kishimoto, He appears for the first time in “Part II” of the manga and the Shippuden anime adaptation, as a major antagonist.
- He, along with its first Hokage Hashirama Senju, is one of the co-founders of Konohagakure ( Japanese : 木ノ葉隠れの里, Hepburn : Konohagakure no Sato ) village from the ninja world.
- Their power conflict over how to run the village, as well as the long-term feud between clans, leads to Madara’s death.
- However, it is revealed later that Madara had used a man named Obito Uchiha as his agent.
He transplants his Rinnegan ( 輪廻眼, lit. ” Saṃsāra Eye”) eye power into a child named Nagato, a member of the terrorist organization Akatsuki, to be preserved for his eventual revival years later. During most of the series, Obito uses Madara’s name until a criminal named Kabuto Yakushi reanimates the real Madara who becomes one of the primary antagonists alongside Obito Uchiha during the Fourth Great Shinobi World War storyline.
- Madara has appeared in several pieces of Naruto media, including a Boruto feature film.
- Many Naruto video games have featured him as a playable character,
- Ishimoto created the character to provide a strong villain in the series’ final arc who would face the series’ protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki,
- This confrontation would be different from that with previous enemies and result in more of a focus on fight scenes.
Merchandise has been released in Madara’s likeness, including keychains, plush dolls, and figurines. In the Japanese anime, Naoya Uchida voices Madara, while Go Inoue voices him as a child. In the English version, Neil Kaplan provides Madara’s voice with Xander Mobus voicing him as a child.

How did Pain and Nagato get Rinnegan?
How Did Nagato Get the Rinnegan? – Nagato is seen with the Rinnegan at a young age, before losing his parents in an unfortunate incident during the Second Great Shinobi War, It was originally thought that Nagato was somehow born with them, later it’s revealed that Nagato was given the Rinnegan by Madara Uchiha.
While Madara managed to revive himself and extend his lifespan, he knew that he still wouldn’t have enough time to accomplish his goal. Madara’s ultimate plan involved bringing peace to the world by projecting the Infinite Tsukuyomi onto the moon to enslave humanity in a dreamlike state. To ensure he’d have the power to see his plan through, he transplanted the Rinnegan eyes into a young Nagato with the intention of returning years later using the reanimation jutsu to reclaim the eyes.
But the question remains: why Nagato?
Why did Madara give Nagato Rinnegan?
How Nagato Get The Rinnegan – At the time, Madara was the only human in history who managed to awaken the Rinnegan. Unfortunately, his old and fragile body was no longer capable of making use of his newfound power, So he decided to lend his Rinnegan to someone else that can use the power of the eyes.
- He also left his final will to somebody else that will eventually revive him using the power of the matured Rinnegan.
- The person that Madara chose to give his precious Rinnegan to is a little boy from a small warring country called Amegakure,
- His name is Nagato.
- The reason why Madara picked Nagato is simply because he is a member of the Uzumaki clan.
Therefore, he has the same innate physical abilities as the Senju, which makes him the perfect container for the Rinnegan. The person that Madara deemed suitable to inherit his will and his grand plan is a boy from Konohagakura who happens to be a member of the Uchiha clan, Obito Uchiha.

Only those that have Ashura/Indra’s chakra or Hagoromo’s chakra can awaken the Rinnegan. That’s why Obito didn’t awaken his Rinnegan, simply because he isn’t a reincarnate of Indra even though he had Ashura’s DNA and didn’t have Hagoromo’s chakra.

Why is Kaguya’s Byakugan so strong?
3 Kaguya Otsutsuki – Known to be the progenitor of chakra on earth, Kaguya Otsutsuki came to earth a long time ago and eventually became its ruler. Kaguya was already quite powerful, and by eating the chakra fruit that the God Tree bore, she became even stronger. Kaguya had the Byakugan along with the Rinne-Sharingan at her disposal and was powerful enough to fight both Hagoromo and Hamura Otsutsuki at once.
How did obito get Rinnegan?
Acquisition – The first person on Earth to wield the Rinnegan was Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, whose mother possessed the Rinne Sharingan, In the anime, he obtained his Rinnegan at the same time as his Mangekyō Sharingan, which awakened as a result of mortally wounding his brother,
- Using the power of the Rinnegan, Hagoromo saved the world from the Ten-Tails and created ninshū, the precursor to modern ninjutsu,
- For his contributions to the world, Hagoromo became revered as the Sage of Six Paths, and both he and his eyes rose to mythological status following his death; even when the Rinnegan was later proven to exist, some dismissed it as a random mutation.
It is possible for a Sharingan wielder to awaken a new Rinnegan by obtaining Hagoromo’s chakra, either by combining the chakra of his sons, Indra and Asura, to recreate his own, or by directly receiving it from Hagoromo himself. Black Zetsu spent centuries attempting to manipulate the reincarnations of Indra and Asura into awakening the Rinnegan, but it was not until the time of Madara Uchiha — Indra’s reincarnate — that this was successful.
Madara implanted the flesh of Hashirama Senju — Asura’s reincarnate — into his own body, causing a part of Asura’s chakra to combine with Indra’s. However, Madara’s eyes did not become Rinnegan until decades later, when his natural lifespan was nearing its end; this also restored his right eye’s vision, which had been lost from his earlier use of Izanagi,
Orochimaru and Kabuto Yakushi later hypothesised that the Sharingan can be evolved into the Rinnegan by combining Uchiha and Senju DNA. To that end, Kabuto successfully recreated the Rinnegan by infusing Hashirama’s cells into Madara’s reincarnated body, though these fake eyes did not have full access to the original’s abilities. Sasuke’s purple Rinnegan. After receiving half of Hagoromo’s chakra from his spirit, Sasuke awakened a Rinnegan in his left eye, which contains three tomoe on its two innermost circles for a total of six. In addition to the Rinnegan’s power, this eye retains the abilities of Sasuke’s left Mangekyō Sharingan, including the ability to cast ocular genjutsu and use Amaterasu,
Momoshiki’s red Rinnegan. |
Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki had a pair of Rinnegan embedded in the palms of his hands. They were initially red, but after he consumed his guardian, Kinshiki, they became purple (in Boruto: Naruto the Movie ) or yellow (in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations ). This also granted him a third Rinnegan on his forehead, which matched the other two in colour. Urashiki’s blue Rinnegan Urashiki Ōtsutsuki manifested his Rinnegan in the same pair of eyes as his Byakugan, and could switch between the two dōjutsu at will. Urashiki’s Rinnegan were able to take on several forms to access different abilities: at times, they were red and contained six tomoe, while at other times, they were blue with a white ripple pattern while using certain techniques.
- After consuming all of the chakra he had stolen from others, Urashiki removed and devoured both of his Rinnegan, causing him to undergo a transformation.
- In this form, his eyes were restored, an additional Rinnegan appeared on his forehead, and all of his dōjutsu turned yellow, much like Momoshiki before him.
As with any dōjutsu, the Rinnegan can be transplanted into others. Prior to his death, Madara implanted both of his eyes into the young Nagato without the boy’s knowledge, and he was able to make effective use of them throughout his life due to his Senju lineage,
After Nagato’s death, the Rinnegan were taken by Obito Uchiha, who implanted the left eye into himself and hid the other, knowing he could not handle the power of both eyes at once. Madara later reclaimed both of his Rinnegan after he was revived, and they were last seen deactivated upon his death.
He was also able to revert his Rinnegan to his Mangekyō Sharingan.
Is Obito a full Uchiha?
Obito was a shinobi of Konohagakure and a member of the Uchiha clan.
Is Jougan stronger than Rinnegan?
The Jogan: An Overview – Another addition to the series’ visual techniques, the Jogan is the Otsutsuki Clan’s special Dojutsu, possessing unique capabilities that rival the strength of the Three Great Dojutsu. The eye was first revealed when Boruto accidentally activated it during his academy, yet he could only activate it involuntarily.
It wasn’t until much later that he finally mastered control over the Dojutsu, which further revealed the secrets of this all-powerful eye. The Dojutsu boasts a rather unique appearance, with a light blue shade and a barely visible pupil, circled with a darkened sclera. Its appearance is quite reminiscent of the Byakugan, yet the light blue color scheme sets it apart.
While little is known of the visual jutsu’s true strength, some of its primary abilities have been revealed. Its current abilities seem to be a mix of the Byakugan, Sharingan, and the Rinnegan, as the Jogan possesses the ability to sense chakra pathways, sense barriers connecting different dimensions, and sense chakra in general.
- Currently, Boruto possesses the Jogan in only one eye, meaning its true strength can only be revealed when the visual jutsu activates in both eyes.
- It is speculated that its power goes far beyond what the series has revealed so far, and with the possibility of the Jogan awakening in Boruto’s other eye, the possibilities are limitless.
Still, a comparison with the current three strongest dojutsu is worthwhile in terms of revealing the Jogan’s potential.

Does Pain have Madara’s eyes?
How did Pain get his eyes? – Appearances – Nagato is the recognized leader of the Akatsuki and Konan ‘s partner, with Obito Uchiha acting as his benefactor. The “Pain” that is most often seen and used in the series is the Deva Path. This is actually Nagato’s deceased friend Yahiko ( 弥彦 ), one of six animated corpses collectively known as “The Six Paths of Pain” that are controlled by Nagato and use one sixth of his full power.
- The Pain Paths are all outfitted with a number of body piercings that serve as a means for Nagato to control them and offer them a “more dangerous” appearance in relation to their name’s installation.
- Through Nagato’s Rinnegan ( 輪廻眼, lit.
- Saṃsāra Eye”), they can share visual information and coordinate attacks.
Orphaned from the war-torn country of Amegakure, the Village Hidden in Rain, Nagato meets fellow orphans Konan and Yahiko before they are trained by Jiraiya. A descendant of the Uzumaki clan like Naruto, Nagato’s Rinnegan is later revealed to have belonged to Madara Uchiha, who transplanted his eyes into the child as part of his plan.
Nagato desires peace for the world, helping Yahiko to create the Akatsuki to achieve that shared dream. The anime reveals Nagato is observed from afar by Madara’s apprentice Tobi, who assumes Madara’s identity. Following Yahiko’s death, which Tobi orchestrated, by the actions of Amegakure’s despot, Hanzo, and Danzo Shimura of Konohagakure in the Hidden Leaf Village, Nagato rethinks the idea that peace can only be attained by teaching the world suffering caused by war.
For this, Nagato adopts the name of “Pain” and kills Hanzo, taking over as the new leader of Amegakure and becoming a ” god ” for its citizens. Crippled from both Hanzo’s attack and his link with the Gedo Statue, Nagato finds a way to overcome his weakness by remotely controlling the corpses of deceased people as if they were their own.
- Besides Yahiko, Nagato creates the other Paths from the corpses of five ninja that Jiraiya encountered in the past.
- After this, unaware that Tobi is manipulating him, Pain begins leading the Akatsuki to force the world into peace using any means necessary.
- Pain is confronted by Jiraiya while infiltrating Amegakure, resulting in a fight that ends with his mentor’s death and the loss of his Animal Path vessel.
Nagato converts the corpse of a Rain kunoichi named Ajisai ( アジサイ, Ajisai ) into a new Animal Path before beginning his attack on Konohagakure. The rest of the Paths are destroyed in the fight against Naruto, with the Deva Path disabled, and Nagato recovers his faith in Jiraiya and world peace while talking with Naruto.
- He then sacrifices his life to revive the people he killed in Konohagakure.
- Onan takes his and Yahiko’s bodies to be placed in a tomb.
- Tobi desecrates Nagato’s resting place to acquire the Rinnegan, which Madara later reclaims once fully resurrected.
- Nagato is reanimated by Tobi’s ally Kabuto Yakushi during the war and sent alongside former ally Itachi Uchiha to battle Naruto and Killer Bee,
Though he regains some of his ability to fight again, Nagato gets seal by the combined efforts of Itachi, Killer Bee and Naruto and is sent back to the afterlife. Besides the main series, Nagato appears in multiple video games based on the series. The game Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution shows the organization of the Akatsuki group.
